We have listed all of the housing authorities in Nassau County. Using the chart above, if you qualify as low income (Very Low Income OR Extremely Low Income), we recommend that you visit your local housing authority. They should be your first stop for housing and rental assistance programs.

2. You can also visit the Housing Authority for other low income housing programs with rent assistance.
To be eligible for public housing, households must meet the following requirements:

3. Have a demonstrated need for housing assistance.
Public housing tenants pay rent based on their income. The rent is typically set at 30% of the household's monthly income.
