The Allentown Housing Authority operates independently and is not associated with the Lehigh County Housing Authority, Bethlehem Housing Authority, or any other Housing Authority, each maintaining their own separate waiting lists.
The Authority manages over 1,100 Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8) across Allentown. Applicants currently on our waiting list interested in an efficiency apartment should visit our portal and select 'Applicant Login' to proceed.

John T. Gross Towers and Towers East, located on W. Allen Street between 13th and 14th streets, cater to residents aged 62 or above, or disabled individuals of any age, as per federal regulations. Additionally, the 700 Building at Seventh and Union streets, Walnut Manor at 15th and Walnut Streets, and Central Park near Hanover Avenue are available for seniors and disabled individuals.
Cumberland Gardens and Little Lehigh, located respectively on Cumberland Street and Lehigh Street at Martin Luther King Blvd, offer 2 to 5-bedroom apartments catering to families.

To be eligible for public housing, households must meet the following requirements:
1. Have an income that is below a certain level.
2. Be a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident.
3. Have a demonstrated need for housing assistance.
Public housing tenants pay rent based on their income. The rent is typically set at 30% of the household's monthly income.
